The UD Alumni Relations Blog is a sucker for the grand gesture, the swashbuckling move, the bold scheme, and although many times these actions are as ill-advised as they are impressive, we must admit that we are fans.
Whether it be making Academy Street pedestrian only from Lovett Ave. to Courtney St. (map) or having a monorail run from the Ray St. circle to the Athletics Complex (map), we have a plethora of ideas to turn the University of Delaware into the awesomest place on Earth.
Recently in our search for new (probably folly-filled) ideas, we came across an article on The Infrastructurist titled, “20 Bold Schemes that Could Save the World,” and as you can imagine, loyal reader, we couldn’t resist.
Our personal fave is #9 – Huge Solar Farms in the Sahara because “A relatively small piece of the Sahara could theoretically provide electricity for the entire planet if it were covered in solar thermal mirrors.”
