Bold schemes

The UD Alumni Relations Blog is a sucker for the grand gesture, the swashbuckling move, the bold scheme, and although many times these actions are as ill-advised as they are impressive, we must admit that we are fans.

Whether it be making Academy Street pedestrian only from Lovett Ave. to Courtney St. (map) or having a monorail run from the Ray St. circle to the Athletics Complex (map), we have a plethora of ideas to turn the University of Delaware into the awesomest place on Earth.

Recently in our search for new (probably folly-filled) ideas, we came across an article on The Infrastructurist titled, “20 Bold Schemes that Could Save the World,” and as you can imagine, loyal reader, we couldn’t resist.

Our personal fave is #9 – Huge Solar Farms in the Sahara because “A relatively small piece of the Sahara could theoretically provide electricity for the entire planet if it were covered in solar thermal mirrors.”

Chew on that and check out the article.  If you have any bold schemes of your own, put them in the comments.
